I had a e-mail from my acquaintance the other day. He asked me to help his friend. His friend's name is Ali Jane, who is an Afghan. About the detail, please check the web site . He will have judge whether he can be treated as refugee or not.

It is often said Japan is too strict about refugees. I also think so. In the near future, we might need to accept many people from overseas because of decreasing of children. This event remind this thing to me.

The Riot in Paris

It's not a rare situation for me that the riot happens in Paris. France have this kind of problem about immigrants latently. For example, Muslims argued aginst the ban to wear a scarf last year.

As my teacher said, we can say melting pot is not viable by those cases. I also think melting pot-like happens when people have a same kind of idea about something. This is like Gramsci's Hegemony theory.
For instance, peple have we-conciousness when they cheer national soccer team, if they are different races or riligions. Any people forget about the discrimination in this situation. But once something wrong happens with a minority player, his/her colleague, minority group", are awaken to the discrimination and their complaint.

This idea can be applied to what is happening in Paris.

ID @ Hakone

I went to Hakone last Monday for the first time. There were so many beautiful places, and I felt this is just like Japan. As I mentioned before, I'm from Hokkaido. So I sometimes feel differences with something in Kanto region. In this time, I noticed diffrences with nature, atomosphere, and tradition. Climate in Hokkaido is different from in Hakone. I can see Japan-like sights such as Japanese cedar, Mt. Fuji, and Japanese pampas grass in Hakone, but I can't see them in Hokkaido. Also, there are traditional things which have long histories. On the other hand, Hokkaido has short history as Japan. You can rarely see, so-called, traditional things in Hokkaido. Thus I saw many things in Hakone like foreigners. I also felt my identity is at Hokkaido, but not at Japan in this sense.

Do you know a comical CM, commer-saru? You can see it in I wanna mention a scene, a monkey says "Do you know the meaning of CM?". I want you to notice the face of monkey. You can see it changed into like Westerner's face coz it shouts words in English. It's typical bias of English speaker in Japan. English speaker is usually showed a man with tall nose, bule eyes, blond hair, and white skin in Japan. But English is spoken all over the world...

I sometimes feel miscommunication when I communicate with my NGO's staff.
He's cambodian, and we use english. you may think that's because of my poor english, but we can find out what each other wanna say even though there are some mistakes in english. I wanna say here is that i have to be careful with what I ask for him. In other words, I have to give some information as clear as possible; otherwise he don't do everything what I expected. So I often tell some tasks with a list like below.

1. tell the next our visit day to cambodia to the director.
2. hear the idea from the vice director about their....
3. arrange.......

By this way, I could have few mistakes.
